Popularly named as Cork Museum, the Museum of Santa Maria de Lamas (MSML) was founded in the 50 decade by Henrique Amorim (1902-1977).

The MSML presents various collections: sacred art, ethnography, natural sciences, Portuguese statuary, ceramics, civil furniture, “founders iconography” and still a curious collection of cork pieces and machinery that once was part of the day to day of the cork industry.

Since 2004, the MSML is subject of a museographic reorganization project which marks a new phase in its history.

The educational services of MSML conducts educational activities targeted at different age groups aimed at raising awareness of art and cultural heritage. Therefore, the MSML opens itself to new explorations and researches that will come through, with no doubt at all, a reason of renewed interest for visiting it.
